Dusseldorf is fast becoming a hot new city for expats. Its low taxes, strong local economy and good career prospects have made it a magnet for highly skilled expats from all over the world. This influx of knowledge migrants has given Dusseldorf a very multicultural, young and trendy feel. Situated in the South West, close to the Dutch border, it is Germany’s 7th largest city. Many international companies are represented in the city. Companies such as ZF, MAN, Vaillant and Rheinmetall, whose corporate language is English. Dusseldorf is the capital of fashion in Germany and there are annual design themed festivals. Football is the most popular spectator sport in Dusseldorf and the main stadium, the Merkur Spielarena, will be a venue for the UEFA European Cup in 2024.
