What is it like living in the Netherlands as an expat?
The Dutch are known for their liberal attitude and politics. The society is built on equality and freedom. They are welcoming towards foreigners and you will find most people speak English extremely well. It can be difficult to learn Dutch because people switch to English automatically! They have a naturally sporty attitude, most people enjoy exercise as part of their lifestyle, as well as biking every day for transport. Football and hockey are the country’s favourite sports, but the Netherlands excel in many competitive athletic events. The Netherlands is a small country with buzzing cosmopolitan cities full of modern convenience, but you are never more than 20 minutes away from beautiful flower-filled landscapes. The infrastructure is what you would expect from such a well-planned society. You can see where your taxes go! The road and rail networks are organised and reliable.
