In this role, you will independently manage packaging projects and communicate closely with interdisciplinary project teams. A future colleague, (Senior R&D Engineer), describes his day-to-day work below.

What are the specific tasks?

I am currently working on the development of a new sensor for determining gases. The challenge is the integration of various components in order to be able to produce sensors that are as small and cost-effective as possible. It is my task to find the optimal balance of performance, cost efficiency and reliability. As a result, I am in touch with various suppliers and development engineers on a daily basis and personally construct prototypes in the lab in order to test new solutions.

What are the daily challenges?

To communicate with suppliers from various cultures based in different time zones. On-site meetings are occasionally required to make progress in the projects. It is also important to develop and assess different solutions simultaneously in a spirit of invention. This also involves going off the beaten track and convincing others of new ideas.
